Logan Sargeant has stated that his qualifying deficit to team-mate
Alexander Albon has been a “frustration” for him throughout his
rookie campaign. Sargeant is yet to out-qualify Albon in the 18
rounds staged so far and has suffered 13 Q1 eliminations.
Qualifying was viewed as one of Sargeant's strong points during his
junior career and ended last year's Formula 2 campaign with two
pole positions. Adapting to F1 has been a struggle for the American
but he scored his first points of the season last time out at his
home race in the United States. Sargeant crossed the line in 11th
place but was promoted to ninth following disqualifications for
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The 22-year-old is now aiming
to get on top of his qualifying performances as he looks to retain
his seat for next year's campaign. “It's definitely been
frustrating at times, for sure,” he told media including
RacingNews365.com . “It's always been one of my best things in the
past. “It's been frustrating at times. But at the same time I feel
like since the summer break, I've really sort of found the speed
again. “It's just trying to put it all together when it matters is
key, and especially you only get one lap at it in quali and it's
either good or not. “And that's the difficulty. But I feel like it
is coming back to me.”
