Oscar Piastri has stated that he is “hungry for more” success after
achieving his first career podium result at the Japanese Grand
Prix. At Suzuka two weeks ago, Piastri crossed the line in third
place to secure his best result so far in his rookie campaign. The
Australian followed home team-mate Lando Norris, who finished in
second behind race-winner Max Verstappen. While it was Piastri's
first trip to the podium this year, it was the fourth for Norris,
who has utilised McLaren's upturn in form at recent events. Piastri
has been praised for his performances in his maiden season – but
asserts he is gunning for more to close out the season. “I'm very
happy,” Piastri told media including RacingNews365.com . “I'd like
to hope that they were quite happy with me after that weekend, but
no, just very happy. “But I think also now, which is also quite an
exciting feeling, is that it is in some ways less exciting than the
first podium because we've had a couple now. “I think it's becoming
somewhat more normal for us, which is a very exciting place to be
in. I think we're hungry for more. So yeah, very, very happy. “The
team were very celebratory towards me for the first podium, of
course, but there's the kind of sense that we can achieve that more
often now. “And of course, we're trying to set our sights on being
even further ahead.”
