Beauport was foot-perfect at Carlisle, and we think it will take a very good one to beat him at Newbury on Friday (1:55pm).

Hopefully, we get some more rain before he runs, because we want soft ground for him really.

We were tempted by Grade 2 Chase over three miles on the Saturday, but it looks like Thyme Hill will go there and he’s a fair bit ahead of us on ratings.

I think he’ll step up in trip at some point in the new year, but we’ll take it one step at a time and hopefully Friday will be another step in the right direction.

Up at Doncaster, Topofthecotswolds (1:45pm) is looking to back up his recent win at Ludlow. We’ve put cheekpieces on just to encourage him along a little bit and we think he’s got a very strong chance in what doesn’t look the strongest of races.

Sergeant Wilson could make his third start for us at Newcastle on Saturday. He unseated at the first on his debut, and then we think he would have been close to winning second time up, but he was a little bit green. That Chepstow bumper has turned out to be a strong piece of form and he’ll improve a lot for that run.

Looking further ahead, and it remains all systems go with I Like To Move It for the International Hurdle at Cheltenham. He’s in brilliant form at the moment.

Fantastikas is also well and the likely next step with him would be the Becher Chase at Aintree, which we’re aiming to win for a seventh time – that would be brilliant.

Bristol De Mai has been fine at home since his run in the Betfair Chase. We’re looking at a few options in the new year with him, but are undecided at the moment.
